National Semiconductor Introduces Industry's First 1.5V Analog Temp Sensors with Selectable Gains, Enabling Increased Performance in Low-voltage Systems

1.5V LM94021 and LM94022 are Operational from -50 Degrees C to 150 Degrees C

SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE: NSM) today introduced the industry's first 1.5V analog temperature sensors with user-selectable gains, which increase thermal management performance in low-voltage systems. The LM94021 and LM94022 have four user-selectable gains and monitor temperature from -50 degrees Celsius (C) to 150 degrees C. These temperature sensors' wide range of operation, flexibility and low-power performance make them well-suited for low-voltage, battery-powered systems such as cellular phones, PDAs, MP3 players and digital cameras.

"National's pioneering thermal management innovations set the standard for temperature accuracy, performance over temperature and packaging," said Andrew Jue, director of product marketing for National Semiconductor's Data Conversion Division. "The LM94021 and LM94022 continue this level of innovation and offer our customers a more efficient way to manage thermal performance."

About the LM94021 and LM94022

The LM94021 and LM94022 are precision analog-output CMOS temperature sensors that operate from a supply voltage between 1.5V and 5.5V. They deliver an output voltage that is inversely proportional to measured temperature, for higher sensitivity at elevated temperatures. Users can select one of four programmable gain options: -5.5 mV per degrees C, -8.2 mV per degrees C, -10.9 mV per degrees C or -13.6 mV per degrees C. The LM94021 and LM94022 feature low quiescent currents of 9 uA and 5.4 uA, respectively. These sensors come in the extremely small SC70 package and are footprint-compatible with National's industry-standard LM20 temperature sensor.
