GeoPDF is Key to Mapping Distribution in Corinth

December 10, 2009 -- The Prefecture of Corinth is an area of nearly 2,300 km2 that forms the gateway between mainland Greece and the Peloponnese peninsula. With average summer temperatures over 80 degrees Fahrenheit, the risk of forest fires is real and the government of this ancient land recently selected a consortium of companies to develop a GIS-based risk management system to support their efforts in combating this threat.

Within the consortium was Greek GeoPDF reseller; Geospatial Enabling Technologies (GET) who worked with the EMEA Distributor; Quarry One Eleven to supply Corinth with the TerraGo Technologies’ Publisher software.

The Prefecture of Corinth can now create GeoPDF files directly from their GIS and will distribute complex mapping data in a simple to understand and free-to-view file format.  GeoPDFs will be sent to other local Government organizations and Emergency Services to provide their staff with vital location information to prevent and where necessary, fight fires.

Aside from the ease of use, another key benefit of using the GeoPDF file format is that all field workers can easily and quickly add comments and other media to the maps and send this priceless information back to the headquarters.
