Columbia, Maryland (September 15, 2009)—Nemetschek North America announced today the 2010 release of their award-winning Vectorworks® line of design software, including: Designer, Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Machine Design, Fundamentals, and Renderworks™.
"Making Change Easy" is the theme for the Vectorworks 2010 product line. Building upon the integration of the Parasolid® 3D modeling core in 2009, version 2010 is making change easy with the addition of bi-directional associativity features and an intuitive, easy-to-approach 3D modeling environment. These capabilities ensure that changes are intelligently reflected throughout the entire design which is a cornerstone for information modeling workflows in the building industry and beyond.
"Demand for more efficient design and construction over the past several years has led many professionals to evaluate making a change in their technologies and workflows to incorporate intelligent modeling software," states Sean Flaherty, CEO of Nemetschek North America. "Many small- and medium-sized firms find the transition to information modeling workflows difficult, as technologies are hard to learn and complicated to use. The additions to Vectorworks 2010 are going to help remove these barriers and make the change for designers easy."
According to recent CAD manager surveys, technology use is up—particularly 3D—which has increased more than 30 percent in the last year. Vectorworks is the perfect choice for designers who want to embrace this change without turning their firms upside down. Vectorworks software offers an intuitive 3D environment with unified views, easy-to-use 3D snapping for accurate modeling, and the world's best 3D modeling core.
With the release of Vectorworks 2010, Nemetschek North America has also extended its relationship with Siemens PLM Software further by integrating the D-Cubed™ 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM) into the software.
"We chose to integrate the 2D DCM in Vectorworks 2010 because Siemens has what many consider a best-in-class solution for constraint management," explains Dr. Biplab Sarkar, Nemetschek North America's Chief Technology Officer. "Additionally, we've integrated it into 2010 in a way that is non-obtrusive to users and truly intuitive to use."
To top it off, Vectorworks 2010 puts a heavy emphasis on usability improvements and productive tools that make the change to intelligent data-rich design easy. Notable industry-specific functionality for architecture, landscape, and entertainment design includes: planar graphics and working plane improvements; associative hatching; improvements to the import or export of IFC, DWG, and SKP files; new wall sculpting and stair features; hardscape improvements; new parking tools; a new event-planning suite and video screen tools; and rendering options like decals and improved texture mapping.
There are more than 80 new features in version 2010. For a look at all of the new features by product, as well as feature movies, please visit
