MWH Announces New Middle East Region

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 8, 2009 MWH, the wet infrastructure sector leader and global provider of environmental engineering, construction and strategic consulting services, announced a new region to focus on growth opportunities in the Middle East.

The Middle East region, formerly part of the MWH Europe, Middle East and Africa area, is a distinct business geography encompassing countries in the Middle East and several countries in the North African Mediterranean rim.

MWH appointed Dr. Paul F. Boulos, a 20-year civil engineering veteran and recognized expert in water engineering resources, as President of the new region. Boulos will continue his current role as President and Chief Operating Officer of MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software.

“The addition of this new region will allow the MWH team to increase market penetration and drive performance in a geographic area that has seen tremendous growth,” said Alan Krause, MWH President and Chief Operating Officer. “We view it as an opportunity to retain our leadership in the wet infrastructure sector worldwide, and we’re confident in the expertise of Dr. Boulos and his team in offering integrated solutions to current and future clients.”

Boulos, an MWH employee for 17 years, has authored more than 100 technical articles and a variety of books on water and wastewater engineering. He received the 2008 Honorary Diplomat (Hon.D.WRE) status by the American Academy of Water Resource Engineers – the organization's highest honor. Boulos earned a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He serves as Chairman of the Board of International Advisors of the Lebanese American University and is a Director of AMIDEAST. He will be relocating from United States to the Middle East.

The Middle East region is one of four geographic areas in the MWH global footprint, joining the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe. David Nickols, President of the Europe region, will continue to lead his team throughout Europe and other project areas in Africa. Nickols has more than 20 years of experience in international wet infrastructure planning, engineering and construction with specific expertise in the water industry. Nickols has a distinguished technical career in the water industry, having published many papers on water treatment subjects for conferences, proceedings and journals in the United States and Europe. He received a M.A. in engineering from Cambridge University in 1981, and is a chartered engineer in Great Britain and a professional engineer in New York.
