Typical critical path method (CPM) products do simplistic calculations, based primarily on task durations, not accounting for the overlap among tasks. Professionals recognize the importance of treating relationships with the same concern that they apply to tasks, but some relationships are hard and fast, while others are simply applied for convenience to account for overlapping work.
With Pertmaster's new RD-CPM capability, the planner can relax certain schedule restraints using codes in order to model alternative approaches and contracting strategies. The rationale for each restraint can be defined, and then sets of restraints can be applied or not during schedule computation. For example, restraints can either be removed or applied based on certain rules or conditions, in order to see their impact on delivery dates and float.

-- Weather modeling: Rain, wind and snow can play havoc with a schedule.
This release includes weather modeling, which allows project managers
to assess the impact of weather related risks and account for
time-based contingencies.
-- Crystal Reports(TM): Many organizations prefer to use certain tools to
generate reports. Pertmaster provides users with greater control over
their report creation and distribution by supporting Crystal Reports in
the Risk Register, giving customers the ability to choose how they want
to see their data.
