Lowndes County, Georgia Solicits Proposals For Aerial Survey, Photogrammetry, and GIS

November 7, 2006 -- Lowndes County, Georgia is soliciting qualifications and price proposals from organizations experienced in aerial survey, photogrammetry, and GIS. This imagery is being acquired to support the operations of County departments including tax assessment, search/rescue, feature mapping and various other purposes in support of the enhancement and usefulness of the county’s existing GIS database.

Geographic Area

The project area is approximately 509 Sq. miles. This area is Lowndes County, including all of its cities; Valdosta, Remerton, Hahira, Dasher and Lake Park. A scaled index map of the project area has been included as appendix item “B".

Statement of Work

The county is in a position to obtain digital orthophotography. A scale of 1"=600' using airborne GPS is requested. Digital orthophoto files will be prepared in color with a 6” pixel size. .

The purpose of this project is to obtain deliverables consisting of a comprehensive aerial survey and digital orthophotography. The digital orthophotography shall be tiled (2500’ x 2500’ seamless tiles). All tiles along the border of Lowndes County shall be fully shown, clipping of imagery or partial tiles are not allowed and will be rejected. A digital elevation model (DEM) shall be created for each tile from the new aerial photography. The density of the DEM array shall be developed at a density level necessary to support the orthophoto production.

The contractor shall execute and complete all work required by the contract in conformance with these specifications and any contractual modifications or additions to these specifications. The contract is to be completed within a maximum of twelve (12) months.
