Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) Celebrates Opening of Metropolis Tower II Residences

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --  Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED), a national architecture and engineering firm, is pleased to announce the completion of the  Metropolis Tower II Residences in Los Angeles. The glass-enveloped, 40-story, 461-foot tall building features 514 condominium homes ranging from studios to two-bedroom units. The tower sits above two levels of street-facing retail and an 8-level parking structure. The building features a noteworthy residential amenity level with an expansive outdoor landscaped deck on its 9th floor.

HED, working for client  Greenland USA, was responsible for the architectural design of this second residential tower on the Metropolis development site, after Gensler completed the project's entitlement process and the site's master plan. HED had also previously developed the condominium design in collaboration with Gensler on the Tower I Residences.

This building's design is highlighted by expansive exterior glass walls, allowing for remarkable views of the surrounding Los Angeles cityscape. 10' – 11' ceiling heights were incorporated into the project, a feature rarely seen in high-rise living. Some units also offer private balconies and terraces.

"The design of this building is something we are particularly proud of. We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with HED for the full architectural scope of work for this tower and are continuing this great collaborative partnership on the next condominium tower which will open late in late 2019 or early 2020," said Na Ye, a representative with Greenland USA.

The condominium homes range from 482 to 1,431 square feet in size and feature high-end finishes such as Oak finished wood flooring, Italian cabinetry, and built-in window shades. The project's interiors were designed in collaboration with New York-based  JG Neukomm Architecture.

A uniquely designed amenity level, known as METNINE, features a 1.5-acre outdoor area which includes a dog park, a putting green, a children's playground, a garden, a gym, and a resort-style pool and hot tub. Further amenities in the building include a screening room, a billiard room, and a resident-only clubhouse. All outdoor amenity spaces were designed in collaboration with  OJB Landscape Architecture.

"We are incredibly proud of the quality of work that has gone into the Metropolis II Residences. These condominiums are attractive and are a perfect fit for the Los Angeles marketplace," says Jeremy Hsu, Principal of the Corporate & Commercial Design Studio at HED.

The Metropolis II Residences were 40% sold in the pre-sale phase. many of which are now already occupied. The building opened its doors just this past weekend with a Midsummer Night's Dream ribbon-cutting celebration.
