Teledyne Optech to unveil autonomous mapping system at SPAR 3D

April 6, 2016Teledyne Optech is pleased to announce that it will unveil a new solution for autonomous 3D mapping at the SPAR 3D expo and conference in The Woodlands, TX, on April 11. The conference will also see the latest updates to the Optech Lynx mobile survey system, and hear presentations on how Teledyne Optech products are being applied to survey problems and applications in innovative ways.

SPAR 3D will see the unveiling of
Teledyne Optech’s latest airborne collection system.

The new airborne collection system is an exciting direction for airborne platforms, offering an innovative and efficient model for surveying smaller areas and corridors. Based on collaboration with our parent company, Teledyne Technologies, this product features several new techniques that will push down costs and improve ease of use for airborne surveyors. It will be on display on the exhibition floor at booth 709, where visitors can see the new system hardware in person and get a detailed explanation of its capabilities.

Visitors to the Teledyne Optech booth will see the latest upgrades to the Optech Lynx and learn which model will best suit their needs. All models of the Lynx now feature real-time LAS file generation, allowing surveyors to check their survey data immediately after collection and provide preliminary data to clients. Meanwhile, the Lynx SG and SG-S have both been updated to 300 scan lines per second for each sensor. This upgrade is crucial for achieving uniform point distribution when surveying at high speeds and firing at the maximum laser pulse repetition frequency.

To show how the Lynx is solving real-world problems, Brad Rister of PMG & IA, Kentucky Transportation Center, will present “Utilizing 3D Technologies to Resolve Transportation Problems” at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, in the Montgomery C room. Along with Teledyne Optech Business Manager Albert Iavarone, Mr. Rister will illustrate how his group is using the excellent accuracy of the Lynx to detect road drainage problems and measure bridge/tunnel clearances. Teledyne Optech’s Wayne Szameitat will also make a presentation that day during the10:30-12:00 session in the Montgomery AB room. In his talk, “New, Flexible Applications with the Multi-Spectral Airborne Lidar”, Mr. Szameitat will illustrate new applications for the Optech Titan, the world’s first commercial multispectral airborne lidar system, including improved target classification, tree identification, and seamless topo/bathy surveying.
