SAN DIEGO, Oct. 7, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —  Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) through its subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., today announced that it is extending its LTE modem technology leadership to provide fast and reliable cellular connectivity in the next generation of Windows 10 notebooks and tablets for consumers, and enterprise customers. Embedded Qualcomm® Snapdragon X12, X7 and X5 LTE modems will support a range of connected user experiences in upcoming Windows 10 notebooks, 2-in-1s and tablets later this year.

Compatible with the native Mobile Broadband Interface Model (MBIM) in Windows 10, embedded Snapdragon LTE modems are designed to provide similar mobility experiences on PCs that are found in smartphones. "LTE Advanced technology is growing in importance for both consumers and business users of the more than 80 networks around the world that have upgraded to support the significantly faster network speeds LTE Advanced provides," said Dan Schieler, senior vice president, OEM Solutions, Sierra Wireless. "Using a Snapdragon X7 LTE modem, we are enabling LTE Advanced on the latest version of the most popular operating system worldwide, its benefits will continue to be seen by an increasing number of people in every corner of the globe."

"As adoption of Windows 10 continues to grow at an exponential pace, it's increasingly clear that users will settle for nothing less than a superior enterprise-class, mobile first experience," said Fram Akiki, senior director of product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. "The Snapdragon LTE modem family provides a range of productivity services to IT managers and mobile workforce for cloud based data, applications and analytics through a secure and reliable connection."

To deliver smartphone connectivity to the PC industry, Qualcomm Technologies offers a broad portfolio of discrete LTE modems across multiple classes for integration into enterprise-class mobile devices.  These are the same trusted Snapdragon LTE modems used in a number of smartphones and other mobile devices commercially available today.
