ZoOm™, The World's First Secure Selfie 3D Authentication App, Announced By FacialNetwork

Revolutionary smartphone app enables 3D facial recognition with 2D selfies and eliminates passwords

DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS, Nev., July 8, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —  FacialNetwork, the world leader in mobile facial recognition, has announced the coming release of ZoOm™, its patent-pending 3D facial authentication smartphone app. The app, available soon in the App Store and on Google Play, provides instant account access to hundreds of companies including Wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America and Citi as well as Amazon, Paypal, Expedia, Salesforce, ADT, ADP, E-trade, Ticketmaster and many more.

ZoOm™ uses the front-facing camera on any smartphone to capture a selfie video as the user moves the phone toward their face. As the phone moves, it captures a dynamically changing perspective of the face of the user. The frames are instantly processed on the device and compared against previously stored biometric data. The motion path of the phone is also tracked, via the gyro and accelerometer, and used to identify the user's motion signature. Users can also pair a PIN, a fingerprint or both to their faces to create truly spoof-proof multi-factor authentication. These factors and others give ZoOm™ an unparalleled level of mobile biometric security.

"We are the first company to provide facial authentication access to all major U.S. banks, including Wells Fargo, Chase and Bank of America," said Kevin Alan Tussy, CEO of FacialNetwork. "ZoOm™ is multi-factor biometric and it's the most secure mobile authentication app in the world, bar none. It's exponentially more secure than solutions that rely on blink detection to determine liveness, which were easily fooled in a recent Popular Science article and demonstration."

Satya Yenigalla, COO of FacialNetwork, said: "When people see ZoOm™ they are astonished by how simple it is. You just take a selfie and then move the phone toward your face and in one second you are securely logged in. It could be your bank account, your Amazon account, your Twitter, anything — and if you hate passwords as much as I do, taking a ZoOmie™ is pretty magical."

Getting started with ZoOm™ is easy and can be completely anonymous. Only an email address is required; no name or phone number is necessary.

"Account setup is fast, easy, and can be done with a disposable email address to ensure complete anonymity. Your biometric data is encrypted and never leaves your device so it will be FIDO compliant,"  said Josh Rose, CTO of FacialNetwork. "We have filed extensive patent applications on ZoOm™ and our smartphone facial recognition algorithms can convert 16 HD frames to biometric data and compare them in under 300 milliseconds."

FacialNetwork was recently selected as a top-10 finalist among nearly 2,000 technology companies from 100 countries around the world in Richard Branson's Extreme Tech Challenge, but Branson isn't the only one to take notice of FacialNetwork's incredible technology: Salesforce and Samsung have already committed to adding the technology to their offerings in 2015.

An Enterprise version of ZoOm™ with multi-factor authentication and SSO (Single Sign On) for website logins is also in development, pairing a smartphone with a web interface and Chrome Extension for Enterprise user security and Gov authentication demands.

As a world leader in facial recognition technology, FacialNetwork is at the forefront of an industry poised for massive growth.  By 2019, Juniper Research expects biometric app downloads to exceed 770 million, up from 6 million in 2014. By 2020, the market for biometric authentication is projected to exceed $20 billion.

"The fingerprint reader in the iPhone reportedly costs $14 just for the part," Tussy said. "With ZoOm™, low-cost smartphones made for markets such as India and China can have extremely strong security and they don't need fingerprint readers."

Yenigalla added: "The technology behind ZoOm™ has the potential to fundamentally change the way we use and share devices. Imagine picking up a friend's tablet, sliding it up to your face and voila: All of your contacts, accounts and documents are available instantly.  Log out and they are gone. Once ZoOm™ technology is integrated directly into Android and iOS we can make that happen."
