New Siemens Software Platform Provides Enterprise-Wide Energy Transparency and Operational Control

AUSTIN, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — December 4, 2014 — Siemens has launched its Site Controls Enterprise Portal technology platform that provides enterprise chain operators with real-time intelligence into and control over the operating conditions of sites and key equipment. Retail stores, health clubs, restaurants, grocery stores and banking chains that use the new cloud-based software platform will be able to proactively manage building operation performance and energy consumption across 100 or more sites.

The command and control solution will allow customers to proactively identify and address issues, rather than react to them. In addition to real-time visibility, the enterprise portal offers operational dashboards, sophisticated energy reporting, global change capabilities, and comprehensive enterprise and site analytics.

“Meaningful analytics, an intuitive enterprise dashboard, and easy-to-use workflows allow users to proactively manage sites and maximize savings, visibility, and control,” explains Marcus Boerkei, general manager for the retail and commercial systems group of the Building Technologies Division at Siemens. “In short, customers now have unprecedented tools to access the right information at the right time.”

Some of the platform’s key features include quintile charts of energy outliers, portfolio summaries, intelligent search option, a customized ‘watch’ list, and site overview tab. With new access to system functionality via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), third-party software such as Zendesk ticket management and local weather from Weather Underground are also directly integrated into the Site Controls platform. In addition, the APIs allow seamless integration of HVAC performance data into work order dispatch and ticketing systems, creating increased efficiencies and lowering maintenance costs.

Introduced at Siemens’s recent retail and commercial customer conference in Austin, Texas, the Site Controls Enterprise Portal is yet another of Siemens’s new cloud-based energy management technologies. Earlier this year, Siemens unveiled its Advantage Navigator software platform, which combines energy demand side and consumption information with energy supply management functionalities, to provide building operators with key operational intelligence on both sides of the energy meter.
