aPriori expands product cost management efforts for Whirlpool Corporation

Enterprise platform automates cost estimating, provides visibility to cross-functional product development teams and multiplies cost savings

London, UK –7 February 2014 – aPriori, a provider of enterprise product cost management software solutions, has been selected by Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR), a world leading manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances. Whirlpool will use aPriori to further automate its product cost estimating processes, drive global consistency in costing practices and provide a central cost management database for cross-functional product development teams.

One of aPriori’s unique differentiators is that the software can leverage both 3D solid CAD models and engineering knowledge and experience to automatically generate detailed manufacturing analysis and cost estimates that quantify the impact of changes to product design, materials, manufacturing processes, volumes and location in real time. This flexible approach to generating cost estimates was one of the key reasons why Whirlpool selected aPriori.

In addition, the software enables users to leverage product cost data hosted in other enterprise applications to calculate costs and communicate product cost information between all functional organisations involved in product definition and delivery. This includes the import of complex engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs) from ERP, PLM or other enterprise applications.

“Whirlpool has a long history of manufacturing excellence and a strong discipline around cost and quality which is helping them deliver leading products and innovations that matter to their consumers,” said Stephanie Feraday, president and CEO of aPriori. “With aPriori, more employees who directly impact product costs will now have more knowledge and tools to positively affect those costs and deliver value to the enterprise.”
