Netronome Highlights Processor Requirements in SDN and NFV Architectures at Linley Tech Data Center Conference 2014

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 4, 2014Netronome, the leading developer of flow processors, announced that they will discuss platform requirements for software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) at The Linley Group Data Center Conference. Netronome experts will be featured in two separate sessions during the two-day conference. Additionally, Netronome will be demonstrating their flow processors, acceleration cards, and software during the event.

Robert Truesdell, product manager of software at Netronome will present, “Networks in Transformation: SDN and NFV Implications on Processor Requirements,” at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara, Calif., on February 5 during the Accelerating the Data Center track. Truesdell will discuss how the emergence of hyperscale data centers are prompting businesses to shift from proprietary systems to software-controlled commodity platforms for services and switching.

“The way we view networks is drastically changing as SDN and NFV are enabling seamless service migration, simplified management and massive scale out in the data center,” said Bob Wheeler, principal analyst at The Linley Group. “Highly intelligent processors are becoming even more essential in today’s network designs considering they provide the tools to effectively analyze traffic and ensure top-tier levels of security within data centers.”

Nabil Damouny, vice chair, ONF Market Education Committee and senior director, strategic marketing at Netronome, will also be taking part in the Software-Defined Networking panel, held on February 6. Moderated by Wheeler, this panel will examine the current state of SDN standards and implementations and explore the impact SDN is having on silicon, system, and software designs.

“Data center operators now rely on open software that runs on standard, high volume servers and switches,” said Jarrod Siket, senior vice president of marketing at Netronome. “In order to fulfill the promise of open networking, engineers are looking for complete platform solutions that include the full suite of processing, software and hardware for their design.”

The conference will highlight recent innovations and perspectives within the industry of data center networking. Topics covered in the conference include SDN, virtualization, network convergence, Open Compute, OpenStack, Open Data Center Alliance, APIs and power efficient hardware.
