FX3 Solution Delivers SuperSpeed Bandwidth to ExtremeCap U3 Card For Real-Time Streaming of Uncompressed HD Video
SAN JOSE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — December 2, 2013 — Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) today announced that AVerMedia Technologies Inc., a preeminent supplier of digital multimedia technology, has selected Cypress’s EZ-USB® FX3™ USB 3.0 controller for its new high-definition (HD) video capture card. The ExtremeCap U3 capture card records and streams game play at Full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and 60 frames per second (fps) via HDMI and other component inputs. The card employs the FX3 solution as a USB 3.0 device bridge with bandwidth of 5 Gbps, which enables it to capture HD video without requiring compression that degrades image quality.
EZ-USB FX3 is the industry’s only programmable USB 3.0 peripheral controller. It is equipped with a highly configurable General Programmable Interface (GPIF™ II), which can be programmed in 8-, 16- and 32-bit configurations with data rates as high as 400 megabytes per second. GPIF II enables FX3 to interface directly to nearly any processor, ASIC or FPGA. The solution’s high performance and flexibility enabled AVerMedia to quickly bring the ExtremeCap U3 capture card to market with 1080 progressive scan and 60 fps streaming.
