geographIT® Presents Mobile GIS Solution at 2013 Esri Health GIS Conference

Lancaster, Pennsylvania (November 1, 2013) – The 2013 Esri Health GIS Conference held October 14-16 in Cambridge, Massachusetts featured a presentation by Mr. Andrew Smart, GISP and Senior GIS Analyst at geographIT titled “ArcGIS for Android Tablet Solution Transforms Well Inspection for Bucks County, Pennsylvania”.  The presentation featured a native Android tablet GIS solution implemented by geographIT for the Bucks County Health Department enabling county well inspectors to collect and update private water well permit and inspection data.  The presentation included a demonstration of the mobile GIS solution deployed on Samsung Galaxy tablets.  The innovative solution supports data updates in “on-line mode”, when cellular broadband service is available, as well as “off-line mode” when cellular broadband signal is weak or unavailable in which case data are cached locally on the tablet until connectivity is reestablished.

Mr. Smart’s presentation highlighted several benefits achieved by the Android tablet solution including more accurate mapping of well locations; simplification of workflows related to collecting permit and inspection data; and elimination of labor and paper intensive procedures previously required to perform equivalent tasks.  Furthermore, the latest GIS data are immediately available by all health department inspectors because the data are immediately transacted whenever data are collected in “on-line” mode.  geographIT specializes in designing and implementing custom geospatial technology solutions for desktop, web, and mobile environments.  The firm offers GIS consulting services and system design, development, and implementation services.   Founded in 1990, geographIT is headquartered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and has a branch office in Baltimore, Maryland.
