Esri Canada Selected as a CDN Top 100 IT Solution Provider for the Second Year Running

TORONTO – May 15, 2013 – Esri Canada today announced that the company has been named one of the Top 100 IT Solution Providers in Canada by Computer Dealer News (CDN), the country’s leading IT channel publication and Web site. CDN Top 100 is an annual ranking of Canada’s best-in-class solution providers by revenue. This marks the second year in a row that Esri Canada ranked 20th on the list.

“Esri Canada makes the CDN Top 100 Solution Providers list again this year and with that, they join an exclusive club of the best technology minds in the country,” said Paolo Del Nibletto, editor and associate publisher of CDN – Computer Dealer News. “They’ve really made a name for themselves as an innovative provider of GIS for the enterprise and they’re also a leader in the technology industry with regards to being environmentally-conscious.”

Esri Canada is a privately held company that provides enterprise GIS software and consulting, training and support services to more than 10,000 customers across Canada. They distribute the world-leading GIS platform, ArcGIS, which provides a framework to integrate, analyze and map vast arrays of digital data.

Many organizations are beginning to leverage the technology as their key IT platform, connecting business systems that span the enterprise. To make this easier to accomplish, Esri recently developed a number of solutions that integrate business systems directly with GIS so that even non-traditional users can leverage the power of location intelligence in their work. For example, maps can now be created in Excel, SharePoint or Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) reports, allowing organizations across the country to work smarter.

“Over the past year, we’ve witnessed some of the most exciting developments within the GIS industry that we’ve ever seen,” said Alex Miller, president and founder, Esri Canada. “Through accessible cloud and Web-based technology, we’re watching our user group completely transform as we move into entirely new lines of business. GIS has emerged as a unifying platform, connecting business systems across organizations and adding that essential geographic component to data that supports truly insightful, informed decisions. ”

ArcGIS Online, the company’s cloud-based platform is further expanding the reach of GIS. It provides users with a secure cloud environment to create, publish and share maps and data, so that organizations can work more productively with a lighter server footprint. Across the globe, users are leveraging it to easily produce intelligent Web maps that convey information in a powerful new way. For example, it’s used by public safety organizations to coordinate emergency response, by local governments to open their data to the public, and by the country’s top mining and agricultural organizations to mitigate risk. Journalists are beginning to recognize the power of Web maps as a creative new medium to tell their stories.

Esri Canada is also known for spearheading the Community Map of Canada Program which is focused on building a national, high-performance and authoritative basemap. This map service, comprised of data contributed directly from organizations across the country, can be freely leveraged by both the general public and other companies in their own applications. Now over 180 members strong, the Program continues to gain traction and move closer towards its goal.

In addition to offering state-of-the art GIS solutions, Esri Canada is committed to environmental stewardship and enjoys a number of environmental partnerships with organizations such as Ducks Unlimited Canada and the World Wildlife Fund. The company also installed a 704-square metre green roof at their headquarters in Toronto.
