Intergraph’s ERDAS APOLLO Helps Enhance the Delivery of Geospatial Data for the State of Brunei Darussalam

Huntsville, Ala., March 22, 2012 – Intergraph® announces that State of Brunei Darussalam, a sovereign state located on the north coast of the island of Borneo, is leveraging ERDAS APOLLO to modernize the way Brunei Survey Department manages and delivers geospatial information to the rest of its government agencies, as well as to the general public.

Rolled out in two phases under the Survey Spatial Data Infrastructure (SSDI) project, this effort provides an infrastructure that increases the productivity of many geospatially related tasks throughout the country by improving access to data, streamlining processes, reducing duplication of efforts in data collection, and enhancing the quality of information.

ERDAS APOLLO  is being used in the first phase to provide web-based workflows to improve productivity for Survey Department staff, as well as make this data accessible to other government agencies. Later in 2012, Brunei Survey Department will introduce an ERDAS APOLLO-based geospatial portal that will supply imagery and data to the general public.

“The SSDI project will significantly reduce duplication efforts among agencies and improve quality and reduce costs related to geographic information,” said Awang Hj. Mohd. Jamil Hj. Mohd. Ali, Surveyor General of Brunei Survey Department. “We also intend to make geographic data more accessible to the public, which will provide the added benefit of increased data availability and further use of geospatial information for the public and private sector as well as academia.”

The Brunei Survey Department, which serves as one agency under the government of His Majesty of Brunei Darussalam, plays a major role in land surveying, preparation and production of maps, as well as providing support for Land Information Technology for the State of Brunei Darussalam’s Country Development Plan.

ERDAS APOLLO  is the market leading enterprise solution for managing and delivering massive volumes of distributed geospatial data and imagery. This server-based offering is available in three product tiers to suit a wide spectrum of organizations - from those that simply need a very low-cost, exceptionally fast image server to those requiring a comprehensive data management system.
