November 07, 2011 -- Users of GGP Systems gazetteer management software have once again performed well at a UK national award ceremony. Following an outstanding performance in 2010, which saw them scoop three out of the six top awards, the London Borough of Harrow came runner up in the Financial Award category and was Highly Commended in the Integration Category.
Leicestershire based Blaby District Council was named as best performing authority in the East Midlands region, following an award in 2009 for the ‘Most Improved’, and also achieved a Gold Standard award for the quality and accuracy of their local address database. Eastleigh and Runnymede Borough Councils, Salford City Council and Wyre Forest District Council, all users of GGP NGz software, also achieved Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) Authority Dataset Improvement Schedule Gold Standard awards.
The 2011 National Gazetteer Exemplar Awards were presented at the ‘Everything Happens Somewhere’ conference on the 03 November at the Albert Hall in Nottingham. Organised by GeoPlace, the awards are designed to recognise the outstanding achievements of public sector organisations in England and Wales in the creation, maintenance and utilisation of national address and street databases. These national gazetteers provide a definitive reference for address and street data and are proving to be an essential resource for public sector improvement, efficiency gains and cost savings.
GGP NGz software has been specifically developed to ensure a consistent, up to date and accurate base for all property based information within an organisation. GGP NGz also manages the import and export of data between the local authority databases and the NLPG, the national hub. The complete product suite was one of the first software solutions to receive accreditation for address data transfer (DTF 7.3), is fully compliant with BS7666 and users of GGP software consistently perform well at prestigious events such as the National Gazetteer Exemplar Awards.
