Navy Federal Credit Union Realizes Significant Time Savings on Lease and Facility Management Tasks Using Skire Unifier

Facilities management solution allows the largest credit union in the world to complete common facility management tasks in hours rather than days

As Navy Federal grew to their current size of over 200 branches, they tracked activities using disparate spreadsheets and lacked a centralized view of space utilization of branches, thus making analysis and future planning challenging. Another opportunity for improvement was information sharing and tracking throughout the entire process by different teams such as the construction and maintenance groups.

In July of 2009, Navy Federal embarked on a mission to improve its lease and facility management processes by implementing facility management software, Skire Unifier. Unifier has given Navy Federal a single, integrated facilities lifecycle management tool that Navy Federal has configured to meet its specific needs. By using Unifier to implement best practices and standard processes across the facilities team, Navy Federal has now aggregated all facility data into one system and has automated reports and processes, leading to significant efficiency improvements.

A key aspect of the implementation was Navy Federal’s ability to configure the software rapidly using in-house resources. After initial training, the core Navy Federal team was able to quickly model the facility portfolio, configure re-engineered processes, and deploy incremental capabilities out to the field, resulting in rapid time to value (TTV), with initial capabilities going live in 14 weeks. In the first nine months of implementation, Navy Federal has already seen incredible results:

  • Rent projection reports that used to take four business days (32 hours) now take four hours.
  • Lease reports that used to take one to two weeks to generate now take only four hours.
  • Achieved substantial reduction in help desk call volume as the result of online availability of information.
  • Ability to audit and control the use of space within the branches.
