CRIMEVIEW® Dashboard Goes Live At Lincoln Police Department

March 17, 2011 -- The Lincoln Police Department today launched CrimeView® Dashboard into full production mode to provide its officers with a geographic information tool that will dramatically increase their awareness and responsiveness to recent crime activity.

CrimeView® Dashboard is the newest Internet browser based application by The Omega Group, Inc. that provides all levels of law enforcement personnel with an interactive display of crime incident data in both spatial and temporal visualizations.

The Lincoln Police Department expects that CrimeView® Dashboard will allow it to interrupt emerging crime patterns or trends much sooner and better allocate resources to those places where the impact is likely to be most effective.

As Chief Tom Casady explains, “With over 350 dispatch events daily, there is simply no way to maintain situational awareness within our department via the traditional roll call and stack of police reports.  CrimeView® Dashboard is going to allow everyone from commanders to patrol officers to be more informed about emerging issues than ever before.”

CrimeView® Dashboard provides users with snapshot views on multiple panel displays of pertinent information about crime, disorder and persons of interest.  The data is refreshed daily as these continuous data feeds known as widgets are compatible with any department’s computer record or dispatch system.

The non-static visual framework allows for great flexibility.  According to Chief Casady “With a couple of clicks, the user can add a layer of concentrated incidents or “hot spots” or create a tabular report or export the data to a case file.  But that’s not all.  You can drill down to query tools on crime type, modus operandi, location type, date and time range and much more.”

CrimeView® Dashboard allows for customization of the data display for different departmental levels and teams.  These briefing books can be tailored for top tier command staff looking for an overview of crime trends or for a beat officer most interested in significant crimes within the past few days in his or her beat.  Briefing books can also easily be replicated for different area commands or patrol beats.  Chief Casady says, “CrimeView® Dashboard will allow us to analyze data very quickly and implement more timely strategies and tactics.”
