Vishay Intertechnology’s New USB-OTG Bus Port Protection Array Provides Low Typical Capacitance of 0.7 pF and Low Maximum Leakage Current Down to 0.085 µA in Compact LLP75-7L Leadless Package

Device Provides VBUS Protection at 28 V Working Range

MALVERN, Pa. — Jan. 24, 2011 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced a new ESD-protection array featuring low capacitance and leakage currents to protect USB-OTG ports against transient voltage signals. The new  VBUS053CZ-HAF provides three lines of USB ESD protection at a 5.5 V working range, and one line of VBUS protection at a 28 V working range.

The  VBUS053CZ-HAF is packaged in the leadless LLP75-7L package, with an ultra-low profile of 0.6 mm to minimize the board space required for active ESD protection in high-speed data applications, such as USB 2.0 and HDMI in HDTVs and mobile electronics, including portable gaming systems, MP3 players, and cell phones.

The new device features a low load capacitance of 0.7 pF for the three data lines D+, D-, and ID, and a low maximum leakage current of 0.085 µA at the working voltage of 3.3 V, and 1 µA at 5.5 V. The array provides a low typical clamping voltage of 15 V at 3 A for the data lines. For the VBUS line, the  VBUS053CZ-HAF features a typical clamping voltage of 53 V at 3 A.

The  VBUS053CZ-HAF provides transient protection as per IEC 61000-4-2 at 15 kV contact and 15 kV air discharge as well as surge current protection in accordance with IEC 6100-4-5 from 3 A.

The lead (Pb)-free device features a halogen-free molding compound, and is compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

Samples of the new USB-OTG bus port protection array are available now, with lead times of six to eight weeks for large orders.
