Aerial Photo Maps Add Drama to BBC TV’s Spooks Production

October 06, 2010 -- Aerial photography from Bluesky is hitting the screens as the BBC’s highly popular drama Spooks returns for it’s ninth series. Some of Bluesky images were included in the programme’s opening credits and Bluesky aerial photography also featured in the first episode of the new series highlighting the location of a prime terrorist suspect. Other images supplied by Bluesky for this series, including a world satellite image, will be included in future episodes.

“Aerial photography is a highly effective tool to communicate detailed information about a location,” commented a member of the programme’s production team. “With one graphic on the screen for possibly just a second or two the viewer immediately gets an understanding of the detailed street environment of a suspect or operative’s location or potential incident. Over the years Bluesky has supplied a number of images for use in Spooks and we are always impressed with both the quality of the imagery and the prompt and efficient service we receive.”

“We have been supplying aerial images for use in Spooks since 2004 and Bluesky images have appeared from series three onwards,” commented Bluesky Managing Director Rachel Tidmarsh. “It is always good to see our images in such a popular and high profile programme and it of course raises the profile of aerial photography in the media and beyond.”

Spooks is a tense drama about the different challenges faced by the British Security Service as they work against the clock to safeguard the nation. Claiming to draw its inspiration from real-life events the show recently returned for it’s ninth series promising plotlines involving coalition governments, Middle East peace talks and even spies living in deep cover in the UK.

The Bluesky aerial survey images form part of GeoPerspectives, the countrywide archive of up-to-date aerial photography and are available to view and purchase online at www.blueksy-world.com
