TerraGo Mobile™ Enables Field Intelligence Gathering with TerraGo GeoPDF® on Smartphones and Rugged GPS Handheld Devices
ATLANTA — September 14, 2010 — TerraGo Technologies®, a leading provider of geospatial collaboration software solutions, has released a new version of its TerraGo Mobile™ software that features enhanced mark-up capabilities. TerraGo Mobile enables military, intelligence, public safety, agricultural, petroleum and other operational personnel to easily collect geospatial intelligence and collaborate using TerraGo GeoPDF® maps and imagery. With TerraGo Mobile software on smartphones and rugged handheld devices, even users with no geospatial expertise can easily use highly portable, interactive, and geospatially intelligent maps and imagery anywhere they need to go, online or offline.
The latest TerraGo Mobile software release provides a comprehensive set of capabilities for collecting field intelligence. The application enables mobile users to create georeferenced points, lines and polygons on GeoPDF along with georeferenced notes, photos, video, and audio. In addition, users can select various coordinate systems, measure length and area, see their positions via integrated GPS, and more. After they collect intelligence, TerraGo Mobile users can easily share information with others, including users with applications such as ESRI® ArcGIS® and Google Earth™.
“We continue to improve TerraGo Mobile features in partnership with our customers to create seamless collaboration capabilities within the mobile application, as well as TerraGo Toolbar for desktop and server environments,” said Chris Watson, VP of marketing and business development for TerraGo. “Many U.S. government agencies and commercial enterprises have widely deployed GeoPDF maps and imagery in support of their field operations. These new enhancements to our mobile solution extend the value of these investments to the very edge of our customers’ operations, giving virtually anyone the power to effectively collect and share on-the-ground intelligence.”
TerraGo initially developed the mobile application in cooperation with In-Q-Tel, the independent strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the mission of the U.S. Intelligence Community. TerraGo has continued to enhance the application with input from key customers. Today, TerraGo Mobile for Windows® Mobile® devices as well as TerraGo Toolbar™ are deployed to extend the application of GeoPDF maps and imagery created with TerraGo Publisher™ and TerraGo Composer™ to mobile personnel, even users operating beyond the edge of the network.
