Greek National Police Launch Crime Analysis Tool Online

April 14, 2010 --
Public safety is a top priority for the Hellenic Police which serve all of Greece as the country’s primary law enforcement agency.  In securing the safety of its citizens the Hellenic Police recently implemented CrimeView® Server.  The solution allows command staff to access crime analysis and mapping tools through a Web browser.  Records data is automatically uploaded to CrimeView Server every three hours, which means the offense activity being viewed is always current.  Resources can be more efficiently allocated where they are needed most and information can be rapidly disseminated throughout the entire Greek National Police Department.

The home of Mount Olympus and the birthplace of democracy can now boast that they are on the cutting edge of law enforcement.  The ancient language has also been preserved within CrimeView Server as the entire application has been translated into Greek.  This has helped promote the rapid adoption of CrimeView Server within the department.  Officers and command staff are not required to install any software as the thin client solution is housed on a central server and can be accessed through common browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari.  ESRI’s ArcGIS Server is the mapping engine behind CrimeView Server and provides a great deal of flexibility as well as functionality within the Web based environment. Data integrity and security are kept intact through the use of exhaustive testing methodologies and permission based login credentials.

The Hellenic Police have taken a progressive step forward in their effort to provide the highest level of security for the 11.2 million citizens of Greece.  CrimeView Server now provides their officers with a powerful investigative tool which enables command staff to make data driven decisions.
