Architects Choose Newforma Software to Aid Collaboration and Communication

MANCHESTER, NH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Nov 20, 2009 -- Newforma®, a software company addressing the project information management (PIM) needs of architecture, engineering and construction firms, today announced that design firms purchasing Newforma® Project Center in the third quarter justified their investments by citing the software's contribution to more efficient, effective collaboration and communication. Three representative firms -- WDG Architecture, Dull Olson Weekes Architects, and Number TEN Architectural Group -- cited the collaboration support functions of Newforma® Info Exchange and the email management capabilities of Newforma® Project Center as key determinants in their decisions to subscribe to the project information management software.

WDG Architecture provides architecture, master planning and interior design services nationally from offices in Dallas and Washington, D.C. Principle-in-Charge M. Durwood Dixon, AIA, NCARB, had been seeking ways to manage a large, extended team over an extended design-build process as a result of WDG being named architect of record for the $435.4-million U.S. Coast Guard headquarters. "We discovered Newforma Project Center as a result of being on the receiving end of Newforma® Info Exchange file transfers," Dixon said. "It was so much easier to use and so much more secure than our FTP site that we investigated its other functions, and saw quickly how the Newforma software can help us operate more efficiently with less exposure to risk."

Dull Olson Weekes Architects is an Oregon-based architectural design services firm with expertise in community-based projects. Director of Operations Amy Friendy presented Newforma's PIM solution to her firm as a means to encourage the collaboration central to the firm's culture. "Project information is at the center of our exchanges with partners, clients and internal team members," said Friendy. "As our firm has grown over the past year, we've adopted Newforma Project Center to make sure our communications and processes are transparent, our project team members are accountable and that our firm is responsive."

Number TEN Architectural Group carries out Canadian and international projects from offices in Winnipeg, Manitoba; Victoria, British Columbia; and Regina, Saskatchewan. Chief Financial Officer John Hudohmet, CMA, said the firm selected Newforma Project Center after considering several other ways to be more efficient and organized. "Email is the center of our world," Hudohmet said. "We need a way to streamline the finding and sharing of emails among project team members. We heard rave reviews from other Newforma customers, and product demonstrations showed how simple it is to use. We have invested in Newforma Project Center because it is a proven solution that will make us more productive without changing the way we work."

Newforma Chief Executive Officer Ian Howell said, "A lot of our new customers are telling us that they are using this relatively quiet economic period to prepare for a future uptick in activity. Because most firms have had to reduce their staff levels, they are now being forced to operate more efficiently with fewer resources in order to control expenses. This pressure will be more pronounced when new project inquiries and fee billings recover. Newforma Project Center not only facilitates the goal of operational efficiency to help maximize productivity for existing staff, but also makes it easier for any new personnel to ramp up to speed much more quickly in terms of finding project information and following office best practice work processes."
