Integeo introduces location dimension for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2005 Reporting Services

October 26, 2009 —Australian location intelligence pioneer Integeo has launched its location capability for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2005 Reporting Services within the Map Intelligence intuitive spatial development hub.

MS SQL report builders can now use Map Intelligence to quickly create map-based visualization and analytical functionality without the need for expertise in GIS programming, and thus provide more integrated solutions to their report users.

Integeo CEO Peter Rossiter said that report developers have welcomed this extension of Map Intelligence functionality into Microsoft Reporting Services.

"Integeo has a range of customers that already use Map Intelligence with Microsoft Excel, and these customers are very interested in exploring its application with Microsoft Reporting Services," Mr Rossiter said. "They want to leverage the investment they have already made in the technology to expand its use and application.

"Location-enabled decision-making tools reveal so much more because complex data is often poorly represented when only expressed in charts or tables."

Mr Rossiter added that Map Intelligence removes the high cost and delays that are inherent when including dynamic maps and spatial analytics in high quality, actionable analysis.

"Map Intelligence helps attain more value from the available data to meet ROI expectations as measured in terms of better, more informed and more agile decision making by domain experts. These experts can then be focused on solving their business problems and not the enabling technology. A tool is only useful if it’s usable and Map Intelligence hides the inherent complexity of the underlying software."

Map Intelligence works with GIS software from ESRI and Pitney Bowes (MapInfo) to leverage the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services environment.

"Similarly we offer a turnkey Map Intelligence Server utilizing GeoServer an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant map server," Mr Rossiter added. "Because the Map Intelligence Server is OGC compliant Map Intelligence can utilize any OGC compliant map server. Thus Google Earth can be used for powerful 3D visualizations and Google Maps as a web-service to display images and data sourced from Google."

Integeo can provide a complete bundled solution as a one-stop shop for its customers' spatial analysis needs. Map Intelligence can be deployed as a ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) solution with a remotely hosted Map Intelligence spatial hub automatically linking to the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services environment.
