City of Kamloops Forms Key Partnerships with ESRI Canada and Riva to Build Corporate Asset Management Solution

Kamloops, BC – October 15, 2009 – The City of Kamloops has embarked on a corporate-wide asset management program called CAMP that will transform the way the City manages its corporate assets. Through a key partnership with ESRI Canada and Riva Modeling Systems Inc., the City will integrate Azteca’s Cityworks solution, which leverages ESRI technology; and Riva DS (decision support) and Riva EI (enterprise inventory) software with existing corporate platforms. The corporate solution will enable the City to more effectively manage its assets today and predict capital demand 50-100 years in the future.

“We’ve partnered with ESRI Canada and Riva because they share our vision of a truly complete enterprise solution,” said Frank Mayhood, Information Technology Manager, City of Kamloops. “The integration of Azteca’s Cityworks with Riva DS modeling software provides us with an advanced asset management solution. It will enable us to effectively forecast, budget and make informed maintenance decisions.”

Azteca’s Cityworks is the only GIS-centric asset maintenance management system that leverages data from a geodatabase to track asset maintenance activities. Riva’s DS and EI modules will fully synchronize with Cityworks to provide long-range planning capabilities, enabling the City of Kamloops to forecast costs, asset condition, maintenance service levels and risk – and assist with Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) reporting.

“Riva and Cityworks combine their best-of-breed capabilities to provide a complete asset management solution for the City of Kamloops,” said Brian Haslam, President, Azteca Systems Inc. “In building on the City’s existing ESRI ArcGIS platform and geodatabase, the City will soon leverage its investment in GIS by putting this valuable data to work in day-to-day tasks. Azteca Systems is proud to be in partnership with the City of Kamloops and excited to further extend our relationship with ESRI Canada and Riva.”

“The Riva Modeling team is excited to be working with ESRI Canada to deliver a powerful, GIS-centric asset management solution to the City of Kamloops,” said David Woodbury, VP Client Services, Riva Modeling Systems Inc. “The City is going to benefit from the efforts ESRI Canada and Riva have made to integrate our products and deliver world-leading functionality, while the two companies will benefit from another opportunity to continuously move these efforts forward.”

The City of Kamloops’ strategic plan to implement a state-of-the-art asset management solution echoes the city council’s top priority of improving infrastructure management practices. The software’s spatial component also positions the City to comply with PSAB regulations by making it possible to view the status of the City’s capital assets at a glance. Over the next several months, the City of Kamloops will be working closely with the ESRI Canada professional services team and Riva consultants to ensure a smooth transition to a corporate asset management program.

“Azteca’s Cityworks offers one of the most robust collections of GIS-based asset management capabilities available,” said James Wickson, Vice President of Sales and Professional Services, ESRI Canada. “Combining this functionality with Riva’s powerful decision support software will enable us to collectively build an end-to-end enterprise solution in support of the City’s strategic objectives.”

About Riva Modeling
Riva Modeling's Riva enterprise and On Demand software suites provide tools that perform strategic long range asset, risk and budget management by forecasting the full lifecycle of the assets a municipality is managing. They tap into asset inventories and then apply best practices to assets to generate a lifecycle for each asset. This determines the events that would be scheduled each period, along with their effects on the cost, condition, risk and capacity measures for a municipality or company and its assets. In addition, Riva Modeling has created stand alone solutions compliant with the PSAB 3150 Tangible Capital Asset reporting guidelines as well as the United States equivalent GSAB Statement 34.
