Meridian Systems Awarded Additional Contract by GSA Public Buildings Service to Implement Proliance Software Across the U.S.

Rapid Deployment Teams Accelerate Implementation and Training of GSA’s ePM system on Both Large and Small Recovery Act Projects

FOLSOM, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 10, 2009 — Meridian Systems, the Plan-Build-Operate technology solutions leader for project-based organizations, announced today that the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Public Buildings Service (PBS) has awarded Meridian Systems an additional contract to address new requirements as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and to accelerate field training and deployment of the electronic project management (ePM) solution that is built upon Proliance® software from Meridian Systems.

ePM is a critical solution for the GSA to manage new facility construction and renovations of existing government buildings, including court houses and border control stations. The GSA originally selected Proliance in 2008, recently completed its pilot phase and is moving ahead to roll out the system to more than 3,200 users (see related news: http://www.meridiansystems.com/newsevents/pressreleases/GSA-Public-Buildings-Selects-Project-Management-Software.asp).

With the additional project volume resulting from ARRA, the GSA decided to expand and accelerate its roll-out of Proliance across the country. As part of the additional contract, Meridian is providing expanded configuration services to meet the added requirements as a result of the addition of more than US$5.5B for stimulus projects that will be managed through the Proliance ePM system.

To fast track training across all 11 GSA regions, Meridian has also put in place a field deployment team of 12 trainers located across the country. These ‘feet on the street’ resources will provide training and mentoring to GSA staff, as well as their project teams of construction managers and general contractors. The field deployment team will be providing just-in-time training for new projects as they are initiated and will facilitate user adoption of the GSA's ePM system.

“We identified and selected field deployment personnel who have over five years of industry and training experience by utilizing our Meridian partner network,” said Sallie Sutter, vice president of client support and services, Meridian Systems. “Meridian presented the finalists to the GSA who then went through additional interviews that included mock trainings before the final candidates were selected to ensure that most experienced trainers would be working on the field training and deployment team.”

PBS is the largest public real estate organization in the country, with an inventory of over 342 million square feet of workspace. Proliance was selected in 2008 as part of an open and competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process to procure one software central system of record for managing all construction project data. Proliance software can improve capital project performance by streamlining the plan-build-operate lifecycle, and reduce development, construction and facility costs.
