EON Reality Adds Interactive 3D to the Classroom, Providing Great Flexibility for Faculty

IRVINE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Sep 09, 2009 -- EON Reality, the world's leading interactive 3D software provider, is working with El Paso Community College (EPCC) in the implementation of visualization solutions to enhance the college's class offerings.

Dr. Richard M. Rhodes, President of EPCC, was intrigued with the visualization technology solutions he saw at a conference several years ago. As a result of his leadership and vision, EPCC has been using 3D visualization solutions including EON's core software, EON Studio, for the creation of interactive content for many of EPCC's learning environments.

-- In Anatomy, 3D models of the muscles and skeleton are used to study
attachment points by rotating and zooming from all angles.

-- In Architecture, models can be easily shown in 3D, adding features for
greater realism. 3D models of famous buildings can be studied in different
situations and parts of some buildings can be removed to examine interiors.

-- In Astronomy, all the planets and their major moons are grouped by 3D
models of the inner and outer solar system -- providing a much more
powerful teaching tool than traditional methods.

-- Biology uses an EON Icatcher system to project 3D images which allows
learning objects such as models of animal cells and bacteria to "pop out"
in the middle of the room through the software's autostereoscopic
capabilities. A model of the eight major human body systems is used to
zoom, rotate and pan structures to create an environment for better
    understanding.

-- Psychology models include the parts of the brain, the neurons firing,
and eye and ear models which illustrate how stimulation of senses passes to
    parts of the brain.

-- In Geology, 3D models include the continental drift and a global model
    highlighting all tectonic plates.

John Gilbert, 3D Holographic Lab Project Coordinator, and student developers are converting many of their digital models into EON's software. "EON's software provides great flexibility for faculty as it permits the learner to manipulate digital models in real-time," says John Gilbert.

"Students universally say 3D greatly enhances understanding. The world is rapidly moving to 3D and learning institutions need to use it or risk falling behind. El Paso Community College feels fortunate to have enlightened leadership who embraced this technology -- early in the game," says John Gilbert.
