Trimble to Focus on Comprehensive Initiative for the Utilities Industry

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today the launch of its "Trimble Utility Suite" initiative. The initiative will focus on expanding Trimble's field work productivity and safety solutions for generation, transmission, and distribution utilities worldwide.

"Looking across Trimble's business areas, we are already a solution provider to the electric, water, gas, and telecommunications utilities - whether it's survey, mapping, construction or mobile resource management," said Doug Merrill, general manager for Trimble's Utilities Initiative. "Our customers are expressing a strong desire to reduce solutions integration and training costs while at the same time improving the solution suites' return on investment by establishing relationships with partners who have both strong industry domain expertise and a wide breadth of solutions."

Trimble offers solutions which serve utility customers from pre-feasibility planning through budget and schedule control, project management, surveying, construction, asset management, and all aspects of operations and maintenance. "We have found that some customers want to implement individual solutions for each work process, while others prefer a breadth of solutions from fewer suppliers. We have the ability to meet both types of customer requirements by supplying an entire range of solutions together with specific domain expertise," said Merrill.

As part of the Trimble Utility Suite initiative, Trimble will continue to offer a wide range of utility industry solutions as well as add new solutions driven by customer demand. Trimble will also expand its existing professional services business across electric, gas, water, and telecom utilities, from the smallest co-operatives and municipals to the largest investor-owned utilities.

Utility solutions will continue to be offered through Trimble's worldwide distribution and partner network.
