August 13, 2009 -- St. Charles, IL – Located in central southern Illinois, Fayette County encompasses an area of 720 square miles, and is home to the original capitol building for the state of Illinois at Vandalia. The County’s original pen-and-ink mylar maps were developed by Sidwell in the 1970’s, and the County later worked with Manatron to assist with their migration into a digital format, AutoCAD-based system. While the County’s existing system provided an adequate inventory of their existing parcel data, over a period of time they recognized its shortcomings, in that the process of parcel maintenance was cumbersome, and they were unable to integrate their parcel data with their existing tax and CAMA administration systems. The County carefully identified their long-term objectives, and after a thorough qualifications-based selection process, chose the team of The Sidwell Company and Manatron to enhance and upgrade their GIS.

Most recently, Fayette County joined Wayne and Edwards Counties in Illinois in their selection of the project team of Sidwell and Bullberry Systems, Inc., to convert their Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) to E9-1-1 and implement Wireless Phase I/II. Sidwell will create the base map that include a Road Centerline layer, an Address Point layer, and Postal Zone layer, and an Emergency Service Zone layer, and assignment of postal addresses will follow all United States Postal Service and NENA standards.

 Bullberry Systems will provide the County with professional services to support the ETSB-to-E9-1-1 conversion, as well as the implementation of Wireless Phase I/II, and will integrate their Insight Dispatch mapping software for the tracking of caller/incident locations, and efficient routing of emergency responders. This project brings together the leaders in the cadastral GIS world with the leaders in the  E9-1-1 software world and creates a project team dedicated to ensuring that Fayette County’s E9-1-1 mapping system will meet all their needs and requirements, and maximize its value as a tool to help ensure the safety and security of all residents of the County.
