MCLEAN, Va., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Sandbox, Inc., provider of the Risk Analysis Center (RAC), a leading suite of advanced risk-management software and analysis services, has joined ESRI's Business Partner Program as an ArcGIS developer. The companies will be demonstrating their joint solutions at the 2009 National Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Conference June 9-11 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
With the integration of ESRI's ArcGIS Engine technology into its RAC software and managed services, Digital Sandbox has harnessed geographic information system (GIS) technology as a powerful tool for risk-based resource allocation. GIS makes complex information easy to understand by presenting data spatially. In Digital Sandbox's RAC software, every critical infrastructure asset for a jurisdiction is associated with a location on a map, along with relevant risk analysis and preparedness capabilities, applications, and data. By linking critical infrastructure locations to scenario-specific asset, threat, hazard, risk, and capability information and models (while simultaneously integrating incident information from live data feeds like WebEOC(TM) and E-Sponder) the RAC map provides government decision-makers and emergency responders with actionable, geographically aware risk information previously unavailable in any form. This offers unprecedented support, greatly enhancing their effectiveness in both planning and incident response.
Digital Sandbox President and co-founder Anthony Beverina stated that the company was "very excited about our recent acceptance as an ESRI business partner. Our combined solutions clearly complement each others' best-in-class applications. By building our risk data and applications as layers and options on ArcGIS, and bringing the rich data available from ESRI into our tools and models, we have raised the bar with risk-aware decision tools for real-world risk management."
Because ESRI is recognized as the world leader in GIS software and is employed by a majority of federal, state, and local government organizations, Digital Sandbox customers can use their preexisting GIS datasets to expedite implementation. This means considerable savings in money and time.
"Digital Sandbox delivers a new level of analytics and preparedness awareness for government organizations that must optimize resource allocations under risk," said Russ Johnson, ESRI's Public Safety/Homeland Security Industry manager. "Executives and operational planners can visualize the implications of alternative investment strategies geo-spatially, gaining an intuitive geographic view of risk implications. First responders get critical risk information related to emergency calls when and where they need it. And the GIS map display, which is easy to understand and act upon, is an ideal launch pad for understanding risk and implementing Digital Sandbox's advanced risk management programs."
Digital Sandbox and ESRI have already teamed to deliver successful joint solutions to their customers. Recently the RAC, combined with ArcGIS Server, was the hub of the Common Operating Picture (COP) system used to manage event security activities and resources for Super Bowl XLIII. This allowed Tampa authorities to integrate detailed risk analysis information on demand with real-time incident reporting and graphical command-center software. The COP system gave Tampa the ability to prepare for, monitor, and respond to the full range of potential risks. Tampa law enforcement officials praised the system for performing flawlessly and creating a comprehensive, automated view of every event, asset, incident, and threat before, during and after the game.
Digital Sandbox provides analytic tools and information products to government agencies and large enterprises, enabling them to optimize their strategic, policy, and budgetary decisions for risk-based resource allocation. Since 1998, Digital Sandbox's analytic risk management solutions have helped customers in the National Security, Homeland Security, and Corporate Security fields to lower their risk exposure, increase their risk management budgets, and maximize their finite resources.
