Users to Receive Seamless High-Quality Viewing Experiences for Both Live and On-Demand Video
LAS VEGAS, April 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: LVLT) today announced at the 2009 NAB Show that it is advancing its relationship with Adobe Systems and currently is evaluating and deploying the latest Adobe(R) Flash(R) Media Server software.
The two companies have been working closely together with customers to evaluate Adobe's dynamic streaming solutions in conjunction with the Level 3(R) Content Delivery Network (CDN). Level 3's CDN services move global digital media over Level 3's fiber-optic network - one of the world's most connected. When Adobe Flash Media Server software is deployed through the Level 3 CDN, users will be able to receive seamless high-quality viewing experiences for both live and on-demand video.
"We work closely with our Adobe Premier Authorized Partners, and are excited to see their deployments of the Adobe Flash Media Server 3.5," said Bill Rusitzky, senior director of global media alliances at Adobe. "The combination of Level 3's experience and global reach coupled with content delivery and the capabilities of dynamic streaming will help increase viewing time among users and provide them with a significantly better overall consumer experience."
As content owners increasingly put higher-quality video on the Internet, consumers are demanding that their online video experiences match those from traditional television broadcasts. Additionally, content providers are giving online users ever-increasing ability to control and manipulate their viewing experience, and create opportunities for their consumers to view content anywhere, at anytime, on many different devices. Adobe Flash Media Server 3.5 combined with the extensive array of player, developer and production technologies in the Adobe portfolio provide the opportunity for creation of entirely new interactive media applications. Level 3 is working closely with Adobe to ensure that the Level 3 CDN platform provides a stable, scalable environment for delivering these next-generation applications to a global audience.
"Level 3 continues to see a significant need for media solutions that improve customers' online experience," said Lisa Guillaume, vice president of CDN Solutions for Level 3. "We are pleased to be working closely with Adobe to develop technologies that will benefit the online video marketplace and individual customer experiences going forward."
