Fairchild Semiconductor’s MicroFET™ MOSFETs Extend Battery Life

SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—February 26, 2009— Fairchild Semiconductor’s (NYSE: FCS) FDMA1024NZ and FDMA410NZ dual N-Channel and single N-Channel MOSFETs extend battery life in applications such as cellular handsets, electric toothbrushes and shavers.

Packaged in thermally enhanced 2mm x 2mm x 0.8mm MicroFET MLP packaging, ideal for space-constrained applications, they offer excellent power dissipation and ultra-low RDS(ON) to conserve battery life. These highly efficient MicroFET MOSFETs are instrumental in addressing the power challenges today’s feature-rich portable applications.

The FDMA410NZ offers portable designers the industry’s lowest RDS(ON) of 23 mΩ at 4.5V, in slim 2mm x 2mm packaging. Both of these products provide guaranteed RDS(ON) ratings with VGS values as low as 1.5V, making them ideal for lithium ion or primary cell battery applications.

Fairchild's advanced-performance PowerTrench® MOSFET process technology yields exceptionally low values for RDS(on), total gate charge (QG) and Miller Charge (QGD) – enhancements that result in superior switching performance and thermal efficiencies. Its advanced MicroFET packaging delivers excellent power dissipation and conduction loss characteristics compared to conventional MOSFET packaging.

Fairchild Semiconductor offers the industry’s broadest portfolio of 2mm x 2mm thermally enhanced ultra-compact, low-profile devices targeting low-power applications. These easy-to-implement, high-performance and space-saving MOSFETs are ideal for low-voltage switching, power management and battery charging systems.
