ESRI Canada and EmerGeo Solutions announce availability of new situation awareness solution

July 15, 2008 -- ESRI Canada and EmerGeo Solutions (TSX-V: EMG), a leading provider of fully integrated situation awareness technology solutions today announce the availability of EmerGeo Navigator. EmerGeo Navigator is an ESRI GIS-based emergency management solution that provides emergency managers with timely access to critical information and decision-support tools.

“We are pleased that EmerGeo Solutions has chosen to standardize their application on ESRI and Microsoft technology”, said Pierre Bilodeau, Public Safety Industry Manager, ESRI Canada. “The true power of the EmerGeo Navigator application lies in its capacity to interact with a wide range of emergency mapping tools and share data sources in real-time using web services architecture.”

EmerGeo Solutions, an ESRI Developer and Business Partner created EmerGeo Navigator – a fully integrated situation awareness technology solution specifically designed to provide decision-makers with timely access to critical information and decision-support tools before, during and after emergencies and major events.

The EmerGeo Navigator application combines server-based technology from ESRI, and Microsoft’s .NET Framework and SQL Server into a powerful centrally managed application that can be delivered to any web browser. EmerGeo’s unique managed Common Operating Picture (mCOP™) technology allows information stored in siloed systems to be shared securely within and among departments and organizations.

As a result of this server-based central management, emergency responders can effectively manage any crisis, especially one that involves terrorism, since they have access to accurate real-time information. Decision making capabilities based on accurate, real-time information results in a more effective management of critical resources, which in turn saves lives, reduces property damage, and helps protect the critical infrastructures we rely on day-to-day.

“Today’s announcement underscores ESRI and EmerGeo Solutions commitment to meeting Emergency Managers needs to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to and recover from potential or actual incidents, natural disasters, acts of terrorism and other major events,” said Michael Morrow, President and CEO, EmerGeo Solutions Inc. “By embedding ESRI products into EmerGeo Version 4 and delivering enhanced decision support capabilities via the new EmerGeo Navigator web client, we will be able to tightly integrate with customer’s GIS infrastructure and deliver managed Common Operating Picture and situation awareness technology.”

Navigator will be showcased for the first time at the Public Safety Pavilion during the ESRI International User Conference in San Diego, California, August 4 to 8th.
