Intergraph(R) Introduces New Medium-Format Digital Aerial Camera

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—July 7, 2008— Intergraph today introduced the RMK D, a new medium-format digital aerial camera designed to replace film-based technology for smaller mapping and remote sensing projects and for high resolution engineering projects. A new addition to Intergraphs Z/I Imaging product suite, the camera will be ideal for film camera owners seeking an entry into the digital acquisition arena and for organizations that wish to supplement their existing digital cameras with a versatile system for smaller projects.

Building on Intergraphs long photogrammetry industry leadership and our customers input, we have set another milestone in the industrys movement to full digital workflows by developing the highest quality and most versatile medium-format digital aerial camera on the market, said Jack Ickes, general manager of photogrammetry at Intergraph. The cameras high-end features combined with a competitive price point will allow many organizations to make the much-needed transition from film to digital for their aerial mapping and engineering projects. It will also allow organizations to supplement their large-format cameras with a convenient, cost-effective solution for smaller jobs.

The RMK D sets itself apart from other medium-format cameras by incorporating the best features available in the market into a single solution. Designed to deliver the highest accuracy of all medium-format digital cameras, the RMK D also features high geometric resolution, a 14 bit per pixel, high radiometric dynamic range of 70 dB, which allows users to capture quality images even in lower light conditions, and wide range digital forward motion compensation (FMC), which reduces the blurring of images. It also includes full 1:1 color resolution and multi-spectral sensors, allowing for the simultaneous capture of red, green, blue and near-infrared imagery. Other medium-format cameras in the market produce lower-resolution color data and require two separate flights to capture four-band imagery.

The RMK D also features a compact design and utilizes the same Solid State Disk (SSD) storage system as Intergraphs large-format digital mapping camera (DMC®), leading to low weight and power requirements and allowing users to install it in small, single-engine aircraft. The medium format allows for quicker, simpler post-processing as compared with film or large-format digital cameras.

The new camera will be available in early 2009. It will be delivered as a complete system to include Intergraphs mission planning and flight management technology, an SSD data cartridge, pilot display, post-processing software and a stabilized camera mount. As an added benefit, the RMK D has been designed with the intent to allow customers to also leverage many of their existing camera components with the RMK D sensor such as camera mounts from Intergraph and Leica, mission planning and flight management technology from Intergraph, TRACK AIR and IGI, as well as position and orientation system and inertial measurement unit (IMU) technology from Applanix and IGI.
