Operating under the name MWH Canada, Inc., the office will initially focus on Ontario's hydroelectric generation development opportunities. An open-ended time and materials contract has been signed with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for owner's representative services on current construction works for hydroelectric site rehabilitation. MWH Canada is also pursuing contracts on large-scale hydroelectric redevelopment projects for OPG in northern Ontario.
The move enhances MWH's strategy to build a stronger presence in Canada and increase the types of services offered to clients in that region. In addition, MWH's Toronto office will address a shortage of engineering resources in the face of burgeoning demand for power generation services in the Ontario area.

The new office, located at 295 The West Mall, Suite 203, Toronto Ontario, M9C 4Z4, is starting with six key staff members. Bill Harvey, P. Eng. will head the Toronto operations. Other staff include: Holly Hampton, PhD, P. Eng, Project Manager; Paul Read, MaSc, P. Eng, Principal Civil Engineer; Mauricio Rojas, Civil Engineer; Arnel Villanueva, C.E.T., Lead Designer; and Brenda MacNeil, Office Administrator.
