Designs revealed for luxury hotel and residences on Brazil’s southern coast

Foster + Partners has revealed designs for the TEMPO hotel and residences. Located in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, the undulating development is designed to capture the best views of Praia Brava – a spectacular beach that is frequented by surfers – and the mountainous landscape. The project is being developed by MUZE real estate development group, who are committed to creating timeless and artistic spaces that transform everyday life.

David Summerfield, Head of Studio, Foster + Partners, said: “The TEMPO hotel and residences capture the spirit of this vibrant coastal location. Nature is woven through every part of the development, which will take residents and guests on a truly spectacular journey from the beach to their whole-floor residences and private suites.”

A rich landscaped garden at the centre of the development acts as a seamless extension of the beachfront, featuring natural trails, pavilions, water features and pools. The new buildings all face onto the garden, which provides a private green space for relaxation and contributes to inhabitants’ wellbeing. Shaded drop-off zones on both sides of the development share the same lush landscaping to create a sense of cohesion across the whole site.

The luxury hotel has a private drop off area, which offers direct views of the garden from the moment of arrival. The drop off connects with a striking hotel lobby and restaurant, including a sunken outdoor seating area that further enhances connections with the natural landscape. Each hotel suite has a private terrace – that is rotated to offer direct views of the oceanfront – and features sliding timber screens for privacy and shade. A rooftop infinity pool wraps around the deck to provide unobstructed 360-degree views of the water and the mountains. The separate residential buildings feature single whole-floor residences on every level, with their own private gardens.

The development features a refined palette of high-quality materials, such as concrete and timber, which reflect the warmth of the natural environment.

Juan Frigerio, Partner, Foster + Partners, added: “Every element of our scheme has been carefully designed to establish new connections with the spectacular surroundings, while providing the highest level of comfort and luxury. TEMPO will be a new global destination that offers an entirely unique oceanfront experience.”
