CoolSys Acquires Mechanical Engineering & Construction Corporation

Acquisition Reinforces CoolSys Commercial & Industrial Capabilities and Mid-Atlantic Market Presence

BREA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 30, 2024CoolSys™, the market-leading provider of sustainable refrigeration, HVAC, energy and engineering solutions, has acquired Mechanical Engineering & Construction Corporation (MEC2), a full-service mechanical engineering firm based in Maryland and Virginia that provides comprehensive mechanical design and construction services for institutional, commercial, industrial and government projects. In acquiring MEC2, CoolSys will strengthen its commercial and industrial capabilities while deepening its market presence in the mid-Atlantic region.

Founded in 2003, MEC2 provides a full range of services, including commercial mechanical engineering, mechanical construction, start-up and commissioning work, HVAC service and maintenance and building information modeling (BIM) coordination. It serves customers throughout the greater District of Columbia, North Virginia and Maryland geographic areas. With its main office in Catonsville, Maryland, MEC2 has a second office in Ashburn, Virginia and a centralized delivery facility between the two locations.
