Startup India and Hexagon invite entrepreneurs to compete for technology support to bring their product innovations to market

30 winning startups will gain access to state-of-the-art product development and smart manufacturing technologies to bring concepts to market

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division today announced the Enabling Engineering Convergence Startup Challenge in association with Startup India. Entrants are required to solve predefined challenges using the Hexagon simulation and digital manufacturing technologies provided. Hexagon will award complimentary virtual prototyping and manufacturing software worth INR 20,00,000 to up to 30 winning startups based on their problem-solving abilities & aptitude using the tools provided and entrepreneurial spirit.

“We believe India has the potential to build on its enviable R&D heritage and lead the world in manufacturing innovative products, and Hexagon is proud to be an innovation partner of Startup India,” said Sridhar Dharamarajan, Executive Vice President, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, India. “We are excited to see our startups take their ideas and get them ready for the market – virtual prototyping could help develop anything from an autonomous drone to an electric vehicle innovation or robot medical assistant. With the right skills and technology, startups can optimise their product and its production before taking the risk of manufacturing a single component.”

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division has a leading product and solution portfolio in the manufacturing industry. Its software can simulate the behaviour of components, assemblies, materials, processes, and environments from R&D through production to inspection. Startups can design for inherent quality and ensure viability from the beginning of the engineering process to reduce the risk of costly redesign or delays to market that can make or break early-phase investment and growth plans.

“Startups are catalysing unprecedented growth in New India and working tirelessly to find solutions to global socio-economic issues. Frugal innovation is the strength of India’s startups- that has been visible throughout the COVID pandemic wherein India has successfully combated the spread of the disease via innovative solutions”, said Deepak Bagla, MD & CEO of Invest India.

To apply, startups must submit an abstract explaining the problem they’re trying to solve and how one or more of the solutions offered by Hexagon and its MSC Software business will help them to arrive at the solution. Themes for the challenge include electric vehicles, ADAS and autonomous vehicles, additive manufacturing, design for manufacturing and smart manufacturing.

The complete requirements are available on the Application page. Submissions are due February 15, 2021.
