Disaster-recovery teams deploy Spatial Networks' mobile platform Fulcrum to collect and share information and get help to those who need it faster.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 10, 2019 — (PRNewswire) —ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In response to the historic floods and the State of Emergency Declaration issued in Nebraska and Kansas, Great Plains-UMC volunteers in mission and disaster recovery are using a powerful and intelligent tool: their smartphones.
The volunteers are employing a time-saving mobile app called Fulcrum, a software-as-a-service platform that is offered at no cost for humanitarian and disaster-recovery efforts under the umbrella of Fulcrum Community. Fulcrum Community is a crowdsourced data collection solution created by Spatial Networks that allows disaster-relief teams to transform paper forms into mobile apps that can be used on any smart device. Using Fulcrum, volunteer organizations are able to remotely capture and share critical information and communicate between team members in real-time or near real-time — even in areas with no cellular or internet service.
Residents of Kansas and Nebraska are recovering from heavy flooding, which affected more than 81 counties in Nebraska and several regions in Kansas. With Fulcrum, volunteers will be able to respond faster and more efficiently, communicating in real-time, which prevents duplication in property visits and faster recoveries in the areas hardest hit. Most importantly, teams will be able to secure families and personal property and relocate families into safer housing smarter and faster.
At Spatial Networks, we understand that the most effective tool in disaster response is intel, which is why we created Fulcrum Community. Fulcrum Community deployments during Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria taught us that our platform saves lives if we're there when a disaster strikes. Recently, we have responded to flooding in Arkansas, earthquakes in California, cyclones Idai and Kenneth in Mozambique and fires and subsequent flooding in the hills of Santa Barbara County, California.
Fulcrum is a cloud-based mobile data collection platform that enables organizations to work faster, improve communication, and gain valuable insights into field operations. Used as a standalone location-based data collection platform or integrated with existing services such as GIS and asset management systems, the platform provides ground truth that puts data into actionable, meaningful context. More than 121,000 users across 51,700 organizations in 180 countries have collected over 147 million survey records with Fulcrum.
