Women in Semiconductors To Highlight Workplace Diversity at ASMC 2019

MILPITAS, Calif. – March 4, 2019 – The vital importance of workplace diversity in the growth of the global semiconductor industry’s talent pipeline will take the spotlight as the Women in Semiconductors (WiS) program returns to the SEMI Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Conference (ASMC 2019) May 6-9 in Saratoga Springs, New York. Back by popular demand, WiS continues to connect more women in the semiconductor manufacturing industry while driving critical discussions across genders. The May 6 WiS program runs in conjunction with ASMC 2019. Registration is complimentary to ASMC registrants and is now open.

WiS builds on the strength of past events with themes including communication, networking and why promoting gender diversity in the workplace benefits everyone. For STEM college/graduate students, the program is an excellent opportunity to deepen their knowledge about these key issues and network with industry professionals.

Keynoting WiS 2019 will be Ellie Yieh, Corporate Vice President, Advanced Product Technology Development, New Markets and Alliances Group at Applied Materials. The importance of mentorship in attracting and retaining women into leadership positions will be the focus of a presentation by Karen Hammons, Sr. Program Manager, Microsoft Corporation.

A panel on Building Your Network will be moderated by Françoise von Trapp, editor of 3D InCites, and conclude with an interactive breakout session on topics ranging from mentoring, gender bias and role models in the workplace.

WiS is co-chaired by Gauri Karve, IBM Research and Angélique Raley, TEL.
