MoSys to Demonstrate TCAM Functions Using its Programmable HyperSpeed Engine Connected to a Xilinx FPGA at OFC 2019

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 04, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MoSys (NASDAQ: MOSY), a provider of semiconductor solutions that enable fast, intelligent data access for cloud networking, security, test and video systems, is exhibiting and hosting a live technology demonstration of its BLAZAR Accelerator Engines integrated with a Xilinx UltraScale FPGA in booth #6427 at OFC 2019. In the demonstration, MoSys will be running TCAM search functions, such as Layer 2 Forwarding Database, L3 Longest Prefix match, and Multi-field Match for ACL functionality, on a MoSys Programmable HyperSpeed Engine (PHE) device connected to a Xilinx UltraScale XCVU095 FPGA on a reference platform with the MoSys IDE software development environment.

The BLAZAR Accelerator Engines, which include MoSys’s Bandwidth Engine® product family, integrate a high bandwidth serial interface, 1Gb of memory and optional ALU and RISC processor engines to deliver the industry’s highest memory access rate. Designed to interface with leading FPGA platforms, a single Blazar device can replace 4-8 legacy memory devices while increasing performance and simplifying designs. The Programmable HyperSpeed Engine integrates 32 RISC cores with architecture extensions optimized for memory intensive graph, tree, search and compute acceleration giving it the ability to offload complete software-defined search, compute, statistics, and security functions.

“The Programmable HyperSpeed Engine provides the ability to deliver new customized functionality and make capacity versus performance trade-offs through software-defined algorithms,” stated Michael Miller, vice president of technology and system applications at MoSys. “Offloading TCAM functions to the PHE allows designers to use the powerful Xilinx UltraScale and UltraScale+ FPGA resources for additional features, capacity and performance.”

“We have proven experience interfacing our Xilinx FPGAs with the MoSys Bandwidth Engine serial-memory devices to accelerate networking and security applications,” stated Farhad Shafai, vice president, communications markets, Xilinx. “The opportunity to offload TCAM and other search functions directly to the MoSys Programmable HyperSpeed Engine device allows for even higher performance and flexibility for customers leveraging our industry-leading FPGA platforms.”

MoSys will also be showcasing its Bandwidth Engine development platforms and ecosystem, the Integrated Development Environment (IDE), that enables custom development of acceleration functions on the PHE, and the LineSpeed™ Flex 100G gearbox and retimer PHY ICs, which feature industry-leading signal integrity, power, and flexibility for 100G line cards and QSFP28 optical modules.

The demonstrations will take place at OFC 2019 at The San Diego Convention Center from March 5-7, 2019. MoSys’s demonstrations and product information will be available at MoSys booth #6427. Contact sales@mosys.com to set up an appointment.
