The weekly show began as a passion project and has quietly become a national pastime for more than one million weekly viewers. The show is cleared in 84% of the country and it's seen on more than 150 local broadcast stations, and growing everyday. The entertaining and positive storytelling of the show has quenched American viewers' intense thirst for hope-filled narratives.
Many viewers know Jann Carl from her 14 years as a co-host and correspondent on the highly successful Entertainment Tonight. "It was easy to trade in the red carpets of Hollywood for the backroads of America. This is the show I've always wanted to produce and host. I like to say Small Town Big Deal is our love letter to America," said the Emmy-winning news anchor and former producer for the History Channel.
Rodney Miller, who created Small Town Big Deal said, "My purpose was to produce a show that reminds us how great our country is, telling the stories of Americans overcoming substantial odds, highlighting communities' unique traditions and festivals, and showcasing those who are giving back." Rodney, an agricultural executive, launched the show with no broadcast experience, faithfully hoping he wasn't the only one who believed in the backbone of America and wanted to see it celebrated. Small Town Big Deal carries that mission and mixes it with a lot of fun.
What they have discovered across America is entrepreneurs and innovators, as well as big ideas and big givers. There is no shortage in the U.S. of unique events and pastimes. It's a celebration of our culture and a reflection of our hearts. Miller and Carl passionately believe it's just what is needed in media and the viewing public agrees.
Christmas Across America is the show's first annual holiday special, and they've already started filming for the 2018 broadcast. This year's presenting sponsor is Nationwide. The coming broadcast year will be full of more inspiring stories and significant individuals and communities impacting our country every day.
