Office Spaces partners with VIMaec to give their Lifetime and Fox Business audience a virtual reality experience!

Aug 2, 2017 -- VIMaec provides innovative 3D modeling software for the architectural, engineering, and construction industries. By working with architects and designers, the developers created a groundbreaking solution that seamlessly transforms building plans from Revit models to a 3D virtual reality model. The software uses a powerful game engine to create a Virtual Information Model (VIM) of each proposed design that lets users move around a proposed space as a virtual reality environment. Recently, VIMaec partnered with the renovation television show Office Spaces, from the same producers as the Emmy-winning show Designing Spaces. This entertaining design show features a company renovating its office spaces using the latest tools and technology. The show, now in its second season, airs on Fox Business and Lifetime. The VIMaec software used in each episode “brings the space to life,” allowing viewers to walk through a building that does not yet exist.

Interactive Experience for Viewers

Office Spaces wanted to provide a truly interactive experience for its fans, allowing them to experience these one of a kind designs first hand. Once the show’s creators saw the possibilities of using VIMaec’s innovative virtual reality software to create an immersive experience, they knew the platform would be a perfect fit. From the start, the two companies have treated their partnership as a collaboration. Office Spaces found VIMaec highly responsive, meeting their demanding needs and tight timelines. The virtual reality segments created for the show have proven to be a fan favorite and led to the increasing popularity of the show. Leaders from the two companies first met at NeoCon, the world’s premier event for commercial design stakeholders and thought leaders. VIMaec demonstrated to the producers how their software translates design data and specifications to a VIM, allowing a flat 2D architectural design to be changed into a 3D virtual reality experience. The team behind Office Spaces believed it was critical to engage their audience, so when they met the VIMaec team, they knew they had something special.

Powerful Partnership

This initial meeting led to an ongoing partnership. BrandStar’s show Office Spaces now uses VIMaec’s powerful virtual reality technology to walk viewers through each renovation space. The software allows the audience to get a true feel for the proposed renovations before any hammers are swung. Season 1 of Office Spaces followed the renovation of the new state of the art BrandStar Corporate headquarters in Deerfield Park, Florida. But as the building’s renovation was well underway, the company experienced a growth period. In Season 2, building owner Mark Alfieri and Interior Designer Kalyn Rothaus embark on a second renovation, adding 6,000 square feet to a sister building, BrandStar Studios. Kalyn tackles new challenges in designing a space that works for creative types and millennials who require freedom of choice in how they work. She is incorporating the latest trends and using cutting edge technology, such as VIMaec software, to efficiently design an innovative office space. She also includes a “wow” factor, creating an office that is ergonomic, functional, and aesthetically pleasing.

Sharing a Unique Design Challenge with the World

Office Spaces offers a unique take on the renovation reality TV genre. As the company expanded, they needed more space. They decided to take on the challenge and simultaneously share it with the world. Office Spaces invites viewers to experience the renovations to BrandStar’s buildings first hand. Office Spaces is always looking to partner with innovative companies like itself. They found a great partner in VIMaec, the leading software platform for 3D designs. Office Spaces began featuring the virtual reality models of the office renovations in its show, allowing viewers to actively experience the proposed designs before they were executed. VIMaec creates Virtual Information Modeling through visualization, data analytics, and collaboration. This allows architects, engineers, and builders to be fully immersed in the design. The software is easily navigable, creating an interactive 3D model that contains all of the technical data necessary to renovate or build structures. Thanks to the partnership with the producers, VIMaec software has now been shared with the millions of fans of Office Spaces.
