Jun 14, 2017 -- A series of ten or more high-level presentations by leading experts on a wide range of issues will be featured at the 59th Marine Measurement Forum (MMF), to be staged by The Hydrographic Society UK at BP’s Upstream Learning Centre, Sunbury-on-Thames, on Friday 7 July.
Topics for the all-day event include Tidal Predictions, An Autonomous Surface and Sub-Surface System for Low-Cost Shore-Based Full Water Column Surveys, Charting for Fishing Around the UK, Crowd-Sourced Bathymetry, A New Long-Term Solution to Biofouling, In-Situ Fluorescence Measurement, Use of USVs for Acoustic Monitoring of Marine Mammals, Mobile Weather Stations, and Remote Sensing Technologies for Hydrocarbon Detection, Monitoring and Modelling in Real-Life Oil Spill Exercises.
Attendance fee inclusive of refreshments is £45 per head with delegates also having the opportunity to network and tour BP’s Learning Centre complex, including its drill simulator and HD distance learning facilities.
MMF 59 is to be preceded by a special networking event at the legendary Magpie Inn on the banks of the Thames in Sunbury during the afternoon of Thursday 6 July, the venue for over 80 meetings of the formative Hydrographic Society of yesteryear; on view willl be a display of field equipment used by hydrographic pioneers in days prior to GPS, solid-state memory, mobile phones and the like.
