AUSTIN, Texas, July 25, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BOXX Technologies, the leading innovator of high-performance workstations and rendering systems, today announced that APEXX 5, the world's most advanced computer workstations, will showcase GPU rendering by demonstrating both NVIDIA® Iray® Server rendering and V-Ray RT rendering inside BOXX booth #361 at SIGGRAPH 2016. Held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA, July 24-28, SIGGRAPH is the premier event for computer graphics and interactive techniques. In addition to APEXX 5 GPU rendering, BOXX demos will also include their full line of APEXX workstations, XDI virtual workstations, renderBOXX and renderPRO dedicated rendering systems, and GoBOXX mobile workstations powering virtual reality.
"BOXX believes in providing all VFX artists, animators, and other creative professionals with the proper tool for their applications and workflow," said Shoaib Mohammad, BOXX VP of Marketing and Business Development. "That's why, as leading experts on both GPU rendering and CPU rendering, we invite all SIGGRAPH attendees to bring along their most challenging data sets in order to test drive the world's fastest, most reliable, and most innovative hardware solutions."
Designed to reach new heights in rendering and simulation for demanding VFX, animation, engineering, and architectural workflows, the liquid-cooled APEXX 5 is available as a desktop tower (APEXX 5) or a rack mounted system (APEXX 5R). It can be custom-configured with up to twelve total expansion cards, dual Intel® Xeon® 2600v3 processors for up to 36 cores (72 threads), and a multitude of hard drives and memory. APEXX 5R will demonstrate NVIDIA® Iray® Server, a software solution that provides both distributed and network rendering to Iray plugin products like Autodesk® 3ds Max®, Maya®, Cinema 4D, and Rhino. All machines running Iray Server coordinate with each other to reduce the time needed to render an image, allowing the APEXX 5R to process poster-size images in a fraction of the time of a single machine. APEXX 5R will also host XDI, BOXX Technologies' version of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) which enables an organization to host several virtual workstations on a single server, providing remote access, data centralization, data security, and high speed shared storage.
An APEXX 5 desktop system will showcase V-Ray RT GPU rendering which allows V-Ray RT to perform raytracing calculations on the GPUs instead of the CPUs, thereby accelerating the rendering process. Rounding out the APEXX desktop workstation demos will be the ultra compact APEXX 1 demonstrating 3ds Max and Iray Server, the popular, overclocked APEXX 2 hosting Cinema 4D and Iray, along with the powerhouse APEXX 4 demonstrating 3ds Max and Maya with local rendering. A compact renderPRO 2 and renderBOXX dedicated rendering nodes will also be on hand, while an ultra-thin GoBOXX SLM mobile workstation will demo 3ds Max and Maya rendering. The other key highlight of BOXX booth #361 will be a variety of immersive virtual reality experiences powered by a GoBOXX MXL, the mobile workstation featuring a desktop-class Intel® Core™ i7.
"Whether it's VR, XDI, GPU or CPU rendering, BOXX continues to lead because we understand professional applications and workflows better than any other hardware manufacturer," said Mohammad. "Our expertise enables us to produce optimized configurations that provide the best possible user experience when dealing with complex processes like rendering and simulation."
