QuickLogic Selects Bosch Motion Sensors for EOS S3 Sensor Processing SoC Reference Design

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Jun 15, 2016 -- QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK) -

  • Pre-qualification of Bosch Sensortec sensors enables developers to choose QuickLogic EOS S3 platform with confidence
  • Reference design incorporates a variety of other sensors, including a microphone, to enable the development of advanced sensor fusion designs
  • Complete reference platform shortens development cycle for fast time-to-market

QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), the innovator of ultra-low power programmable sensor processing solutions, announced today that it has incorporated high-accuracy environmental and motion sensors from industry-leader Bosch Sensortec into its EOS™ S3 Sensor Processing SoC Reference Design Platform. The QuickLogic EOS S3 SoC is the lowest power programmable sensor processing reference design available today, and when paired with high-accuracy Bosch sensors, delivers substantially lower power consumption for mobile and IoT designs.

The reference design enables OEMs to efficiently develop high-performance smartphone, wearable and IoT systems using the Bosch Sensortec BMI160 motion sensors. The BMI160 integrates an accelerometer and a gyroscope for motion sensing. Data from these, and other sensors that are integrated in the reference design, is fused and processed by the EOS S3 sensor processing SoC.

The reference design platform includes the EOS S3 sensor processing SoC, a development board with a variety of sensors, which includes the Bosch BMI160 and an integrated microphone. To enable rapid evaluation and design development, the platform connects directly to the Google Nexus 5 smartphone through an integrated micro-USB connection port. The system is also supported by QuickLogic's Celeris Integrated Development Environment (IDE) Tool Suite and Eclipse plug-in software development environment with ARM® Cortex® M4F support. The platform also provides support for the Android Marshmallow operating system.

"QuickLogic's EOS S3 Sensor Processing SoC Reference Design gives customers an easy way to evaluate the BMI160 motion sensor and integrate it into their products," said Jeanne Forget, vice president of marketing at Bosch Sensortec. "When used in conjunction with the QuickLogic EOS S3 programmable sensor processing platform, OEMs can rapidly develop a wide range of leading-edge, ultra-low power sensor-based applications."

"Developers working with the industry-leading Bosch BMI160 sensors now have a complete and pre-validated sensor processing solution," said Mao Wang, director of product marketing at QuickLogic. "Our EOS S3 Sensor Processing SoC Reference Design provides a known-good starting point to dramatically reduce development effort and achieve the fastest possible time-to-market."
