Des Plaines, IL, May 24, 2016 – URISA and the American Public Health Association (APHA) are pleased to announce that attendance at the 2016 GIS and Health Symposium will count towards professional certification maintenance for Public Health (CPH), Planning (AICP) and GIS (GISP) professionals. The Symposium has applied to the National Board of Public Health Examiners for approval of 22 CPH credits and to the American Institute of Certified Planners for approval of more than 40 AICP-CM credits. In addition, attendance at the Symposium earns education points for GIS professional certification or renewal (GISP).

The Symposium theme is “ Mapping the Way to Healthy Communities” and newsworthy topics ranging from mental health and the Zika virus to the Ebola response and active lifestyles will be discussed in the presentations.
