SUNNYVALE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 20, 2016 — Intertrust Technologies Corporation, a leader in trusted, distributed computing technologies, today announced a partnership with Adobe to provide cloud-based digital rights management (DRM) services to Adobe Primetime, the leading platform for personalizing, monetizing and measuring TV content across screens.
Together, Intertrust will add Adobe Access to its ExpressPlay DRM service, and Adobe Primetime will incorporate ExpressPlay into its platform to seamlessly provide a cloud-based multi-DRM service to customers worldwide. ExpressPlay already supports all other major DRM formats, including Marlin, Microsoft PlayReady, Apple FairPlay and Google’s Widevine technology, and its broad functionality currently provides DRM for billions of devices from mobile to television, and web applications for video, music and eBook content. Adobe Primetime customers can now complement Adobe Access DRM to address virtually any content protection use case – all via the ExpressPlay cloud, which leverages Intertrust’s robust and scalable DRM capabilities and the depth of its 25+ year history as the inventor of digital rights management.
“By combining Adobe and Intertrust’s best-in-market capabilities, we’re ultimately providing better value to the marketplace,” said Tim Schaaff, Intertrust’s chief product officer. “By leveraging the ExpressPlay service, Adobe’s customers now gain the ability to deliver high-quality content across a diverse set of hardware and software platforms. It’s a huge win for Adobe’s customers."
“ExpressPlay is a trusted solution for managing digital content rights and offers a broad set of functionality,” said Jeremy Helfand, vice president, Adobe Primetime.“We can now better solve the complexity of multi-DRM for our customers by giving Primetime customers the ability to protect their content with a solution that simplifies and streamlines workflows.”
Used by content providers around the world to protect Hollywood studio content, and protected by Intertrust’s vast patent portfolio, ExpressPlay enjoys market-leading positions in China, Europe and Japan. Adobe Primetime is a multiscreen TV platform for live, linear and video-on-demand (VOD) programming. Its modular distribution, personalization and monetization capabilities include TVSDK for multiscreen playback, DRM, authentication, dynamic ad insertion (DAI) and an OTT ad sales platform.
Adobe Primetime DRM, powered by ExpressPlay, will be available late spring 2016. More information can be found at https://www.expressplay.com/adobedrm.
